My story

On the 2nd of December 2025, 18 staff and learners from Rushmere will be taking part in the 5km 'Walk for Home' in London.

This is to raise money for Shelter (England).

Did you know there are a record 169,000 children in England who are homeless in temporary accommodation?

When you ask what they want for Christmas, amongst the usual toys and treats, they'll tell you: A flushing toilet. A cooked meal. My own bed. No more arguments. No more damp.

Families will be sleeping on sofas, staying with friends and relatives, without a permanent place to call their own. Some individuals will even be sleeping in freezing cars, damp tents, or huddled in dirty doorways.

Shelter’s message is clear: this is not a home.

Any donations to help us reach our target would be hugely appreciated. The money we raise together will help Shelter be there for more children and families facing homelessness this winter and beyond. Thank you.
